Joe Jones was a Welsh rugby union and professional rugby league footballer of the 1930s, '40s and '50s who at club level played rugby union (RU) for Cilfynydd RFC, and at representative level played rugby league (RL) for Great Britain, and Wales, and at club level for Wigan, and Barrow, playing at Fullback, Centre, Stand-off/Five-eighth, or Loose forward/Lock, i.e. number 1, 3 or 4, 6, or 13.[1]

International honours

Joe Jones won caps for Wales (RL) while at Wigan and Barrow 1940…1949 15-caps, and won a cap for Great Britain (RL) while at Barrow in 1946 against New Zealand.[2]

Rugby league county leagues

During Joe Jones' time at Wigan, they won the Lancashire League during the World War II affected 1940–41 season.

Challenge Cup final appearances

Joe Jones was a reserve in Barrow's 0-10 defeat to Wigan in the 1950–51 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on 5 May 1951.
